Getting content from sites that do not have an RSS feed

There are a number of free tools that you can use to get content onto your sites using these “screen scraper” services.

I used the twoLER Facebook page as the page I wanted to generate the feed from. The ones that I have looked at so far that seem to be decent enough to use are:

Feedity : quite good and allows you to tweak the content that should appear in the feed

Feedyes : Simple service that doesn’t allow for much tweaking of the feed content.

Feedfire : An OK service, did not quite give me what I wanted.

Feed43 This service is quite technical and you have to specify the start and end blocks of the html code of the page that you wish to grab content from. So far this service has given the best results from facebook.

There is a longer list here. Let us know what worked for you.

On the flip side, if you have more than 1 RSS feed to merge I’ve just tried xfruits and the result of all the student blogs is hereI also tried Yahoo pipes with some mixed results. Again, a longer list of online tools can be found here.
